All students are obliged to purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). The Institute of International Studies (TIIS) has a preferred arrangement in place with Allianz Global Assistance to help students streamline this process. This ensures that from the moment you arrive in Australia you will have health cover.
Allianz Global Assistance is a well recognised provider of health insurance for international students in Australia. Details about the protection it provides and how students can claim reimbursement of expenses related to their primary health care can be found at OSHC Allianz Assistance.
Also available to students is a 24-hour helpline with an interpreter service which can be used in an emergency. The After Hours Assistance Line is 1800 081 233.
Other approved OSHC providers are Australian Health Management, BUPA Australia, Medibank Private, and NIB OSHC. The cost of health insurance cover will vary depending on the provider and for how long you purchase cover.
Note: Students from Sweden who have purchased health insurance through CSN International or Kammarkollegiet will not need to purchase OSHC. Students from Belgium and Norway are not required to purchase OSHC as part of their visa requirements.
