Eight compulsory subjects, 48 credit points and a financial-plan capstone, supported by online study and scheduled tutorials.
The Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning (GDFP) is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the financial planning industry. The qualification develops financial-planning knowledge. Completing a degree alone does not authorise you to practise as a financial adviser; examination, professional year, registration and other applicable requirements must also be met.
Study taxation, investment, superannuation, insurance, law, ethics and behavioural finance, then bring these areas together in a financial-plan capstone. Check professional eligibility and examination requirements separately.
All eight subjects are compulsory; there is no elective selection.

Updated 30 September 2026 from the supplied GDFP brochure, dated February 2025 (PDF, opens in a new tab). The listed subjects and prerequisites match the brochure. See the duration and fees notes below for information requiring confirmation.
Each subject is scheduled over six weeks, covering two topics per week. Self-directed online learning is supported by scheduled tutorials. Students may take more than one subject in a study period, provided prerequisite requirements are met. Enrolled GDFP students can access their learning portal through Canvas.
Confirm your completion date with admissions. The brochure’s detailed duration section describes a typical 16-month full-time plan with eight six-week blocks and an expected completion window of 2.5 years. Its course summary instead lists 35 weeks full-time. Fast-tracking is mentioned, but the conflicting durations need confirmation in your individual study plan.
Refer to your subject outline for the specific assessment tasks, weightings and deadlines.
The GDFP tuition promotion remains available. Tuition and enrolment fees are shown separately below.
Confirm the enrolment fee and any additional applicable charges for your intake with admissions. Your Letter of Offer sets out the final amount payable.
The brochure lists standard tuition of A$2,200 per subject (A$17,600 for eight subjects), plus an A$300 enrolment fee. Its printed standard total of A$17,850 does not match those components (A$17,900). Ask admissions for a confirmed standard fee schedule if the promotion does not apply to your offer.
Your current Letter of Offer and fee schedule determine the amount payable. Ask admissions about tuition, enrolment fees and any additional applicable charges before accepting an offer.

The brochure also mentions free FAAA student membership. Confirm current eligibility and terms with TIIS or FAAA; this is not a promise of current membership benefits.
A recognised undergraduate degree or equivalent; a graduate certificate in finance; or a finance-related Diploma/Advanced Diploma plus three years of relevant financial-services experience in the past five years. Admissions will assess the applicable entry route.
The brochure accepts a Diploma-level or higher qualification completed in English within the past two years, or more than five continuous years studying and/or working in an English-speaking environment in a country where English is the primary language. Ask admissions to verify your evidence and the applicable test-score requirements if these routes do not apply.
