Admission Criteria

General academic and English language requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate study at TIIS.

Entry is based on your prior study, English proficiency and your capacity to succeed in the course.

The requirements below are the general TIIS standards. Some courses may set additional conditions, so always check the course page and your Letter of Offer before enrolling.

General Entry Requirements

Graduate certificate programs

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian institution, or an equivalent overseas institution; or
  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a related field from TAFE or an equivalent institution, together with three years of relevant work experience in the past five years.

General Entry Requirements

Applicants may satisfy the general academic requirement through one of the following pathways:

  • An interview with the Program Coordinator or Academic Dean;
  • Relevant professional experience, a portfolio, or supplementary information; and
  • Evidence requested for a course-specific regulatory or professional requirement.

Other Ways to Demonstrate Readiness

Applicants who have not completed the standard entry qualification may be considered through one of these pathways:

  • Successful completion of a Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT);
  • A portfolio showing relevant academic and professional work; or
  • An application for credit that meets the TIIS Credit for Prior Learning policy.

Portfolio applicants may be interviewed by the Program Coordinator and Academic Dean. Evidence should normally include a detailed résumé and employer-issued documents demonstrating at least three years of relevant employment in the past five years.

Credit for prior learning

A request for credit is assessed separately from admission. Submit the CPL assessment form and supporting evidence with your course application.
